  • Anduril and Qualcomm unveiled BlueChip, a rugged laptop for military, government and first responders, built on Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Series silicon.
  • Palmer Luckey says the bill of materials is roughly 90% US and allied at about a 20% premium to high-end consumer PCs, with pre-orders in 2027.

Anduril and Qualcomm unveiled BlueChip on Tuesday: a hardened laptop built on Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Series silicon and aimed at military, government, law enforcement and first responders, with the companies planning to begin taking orders in 2027. TechCrunch reported the Snapdragon chips are being manufactured at TSMC's Arizona facility, with circuit board assembly slated for Anduril's Arsenal-1 plant in Ohio.

"As of right now, the laptop's bill of materials is about 90% U.S. and allied," Anduril founder Palmer Luckey said, pegging the cost penalty at roughly 20% over typical high-end PCs. "The intent in the long run is to have an option made entirely in the United States."

The one component Luckey called out as still China-dependent is the display panel itself; the glass cover is already sourced domestically. The redesign work involved picking metals US factories can machine at scale and building the battery system around US battery technology, with trade-offs that leave the device heavy and weaker on battery life because of weatherproofing.

Luckey framed the pitch in security terms: "These computers are the anti-surveillance computer. You fully control it." The companies estimate rugged computing is roughly a $5 billion market, and BlueChip is being positioned as the first product in a broader product line rather than a one-off.

Qualcomm has shown up a dozen times in our tracker this quarter, including a 'performance-focused' layoff announcement a week ago as the chipmaker leans harder into AI silicon; the Anduril deal slots cleanly into that pivot.
