TL;DR

- The withdrawal lands as Anthropic ramps compute spending and prepares for a potential IPO, with marketing slipping into mid-October.
Anthropic pulled out of its roughly $6 billion talks to acquire Israeli chip-efficiency startup Decart after conducting due diligence, Bloomberg reported. It would have been the Claude maker's largest acquisition, and its fifth deal of 2026.
Decart, founded in 2023 by Israeli brothers Dean and Orian Leitersdorf and Moshe Shalev, "develops software designed to improve chip efficiency and reduce the cost of training and running AI models." A $300 million round led by Radical Ventures in May 2026 valued the company at nearly $4 billion, so the Anthropic offer implied roughly a 50% premium. Nvidia, Atreides Management, Valor Equity Partners, Adobe Ventures and eBay (also a customer) sit on the cap table. Under the plan, Decart's team would have joined Anthropic's inference and performance organization.
Anthropic "has been ramping up spending on computing capacity as it develops products and prepares for a potential IPO," with the marketing window recently slipping into mid-October. We have logged 334 Anthropic items in our tracker over the last 90 days. Cryptobriefing reported the offer was structured primarily in stock rather than cash, and pointed to IPO-timing and shareholder-dilution concerns as likely factors. The same account notes Nvidia had earlier tabled a bid deemed "more financially attractive" that the founders passed on for Anthropic's.
Both companies declined to comment on the talks. Bloomberg wrote that "the companies could still pursue other collaboration opportunities."
