Anthropic Teams With Hg to Launch European AI Consultancy

Anthropic is backing an independent AI consultancy in Europe alongside the London-based private equity firm Hg, with hubs in London and Berlin and a plan to launch by the end of the year, the Financial Times reported.

Under the arrangement, "consultants and engineers will work within European businesses to build new AI-powered products and services and to integrate AI into their current operations." Anthropic is putting in balance sheet capital, and Hg is investing through funds it manages, including the London-listed HgCapital Trust. The report calls it "the first standalone consultancy Anthropic has backed in Europe," extending a relationship with Hg that dates to 2024.

The move puts Anthropic in direct territorial overlap with Accenture, Deloitte, EY, KPMG and PwC, all of which have been reselling Claude to large clients. It also mirrors the U.S. playbook. In July, Anthropic launched Ode with Anthropic alongside Blackstone, Hellman & Friedman and a consortium that included Goldman Sachs, in what the earlier reporting described as "a $1.5 billion standalone company."

Hg's existing software portfolio becomes an implicit launch pipeline, with the accountancy group Azets and the IoT provider AMDT named as examples. The reporting does not include on-the-record quotes from either side.

For a model developer that has generated 353 AI Weekly alerts in the last 90 days, this is the second region-specific services vehicle Anthropic has co-founded with a private-equity consortium in roughly three months.
