Apple Asks Court for Forensic-Image Access and OpenAI Hardware R&D Docs in Trade-Secrets Case

Apple asked the court for direct access to forensic images from ex-employee Chang Liu's devices, saying its experts identified 'critical flaws' in the defendants' expert analysis — including files 'demonstrably used' but never located on Liu's Mac Mini. Apple also seeks OpenAI hardware R&D records tied to metal finishes, power management and battery work to test OpenAI's independent-development defense, plus full LINE conversations, hardware-division interview materials, and records of Liu's AI-tool use. OpenAI called the requests a 'snoop on a competitor' and argued Apple must first disclose its own trade secrets.
