Bain's Bridge Data Centres Seeks $6.6B Loan Upsize in Asia

TL;DR

  • Bain Capital-owned Bridge Data Centres is in talks to upsize an existing loan from $2.8B to about $6.6B, among the largest-ever Asian data-center borrowings.
  • The expanded facility could launch into the market as early as November, extending an earlier effort to lift the loan to at least $5B.
  • Proceeds back Bridge's hyperscale build-out in Malaysia, Thailand and India, with capacity targeted to roughly double by mid-2027.

Bain Capital-owned Bridge Data Centres is in talks with lenders to more than double an existing loan to about $6.6 billion, in what would rank among the largest-ever data-center borrowings in Asia, Bloomberg reported.

The effort extends an earlier push to raise the facility to at least $5 billion from the $2.8 billion Bridge obtained last year for its Malaysia operations. The expanded deal "could be launched into the market as early as November," according to people familiar with the matter cited by Bloomberg's Kari Soo Lindberg, who were not named because the discussions are private.

Bridge is headquartered in Singapore and runs hyperscale campuses across Malaysia, Thailand and India. The company has said it expects to "approach 700MW of operating capacity in 2026 across its existing hyperscale campuses in Malaysia and Thailand," and aims to "nearly double its data centre capacity across Malaysia, Thailand and India by mid-2027."

The upsize lands in a market our tracker has watched closely, with 456 AI-infrastructure stories logged in the last 90 days. Moody's expects at least $3 trillion to flow into data-center-related sectors over the next five years, "primarily through debt financing." Bain earlier this year reportedly tested buyer interest in Bridge, offering up to a 70% stake.
