Bank of Korea: South Korea to Add ~600K Wafers/Month by 2028, Widening Memory Lead Over CXMT

A Bank of Korea report out Sept 4 projects the country's monthly memory-chip output will grow by roughly 600,000 wafers by 2028 as SK hynix and Samsung bring new fabs online, according to Bloomberg. That would widen Korea's capacity lead over China's CXMT, which is projected to add ~300,000 wafers per month over the same period from a current base near 300K. The BOK read underscores that even as CXMT crosses 10% DRAM share, the near-term HBM/DDR gap keeps growing rather than closing.
