AI code-testing startup Blacksmith raised a $66 million Series C led by Sequoia Capital at a $1 billion valuation, Fortune reported, up from $550 million after a $45 million Series B led by Peak XV Partners two months earlier.
The pitch is that AI is now writing code faster than CI pipelines can keep up. "the bottleneck has shifted to the second piece, which is: how do I actually validate all this code?" cofounder and CEO Aditya Jayaprakash told Fortune.
The numbers Blacksmith offered to back that: CI jobs on the platform have grown from 5 million a week to more than 90 million each week since January 2026, and annual recurring revenue has grown 17 times over the same stretch. More than 10,000 companies now use the service, including Ashby, Granola, Handshake and LangChain, and Blacksmith says its platform runs those jobs twice as fast and at 60% lower cost on average.
Founded in 2024 by Jayaprakash with Aayush Shah and Aditya Maru, the company has now raised roughly $125 million in total. Premji Invest joined the Series C alongside existing investors Peak XV Partners, Google Ventures and Y Combinator. Fortune reports ARR is in the "tens of millions" and that the largest customers spend over $1 million a year each; the company does not publish a specific revenue number.
The round lands in a crowded week for AI-infrastructure deals on our funding tracker.
