Business Insider profiles Anthropic Labs, a roughly 20-person internal-startup unit co-led by cofounder Ben Mann and outgoing CPO Mike Krieger. The group is credited with incubating Claude Code — which reportedly went from research preview to a $1B run-rate product in six months — and Model Context Protocol, now cited at ~100M monthly downloads. Labs is on track to double headcount within six months as Anthropic approaches its IPO.
