Collective Lands $100M to Run Solo-Business Finance With AI

TL;DR

  • Collective raised a $40M Series B led by General Catalyst, QED Investors and Gradient Ventures, with Intuit Ventures participating.
  • A separate $60M came from General Catalyst's Customer Value Fund, a nondilutive vehicle repaid from the revenue of customers it funds.
  • The company reports 127% year-over-year growth, $350M in cumulative member tax savings, and AI handling half of support tickets.

Collective announced a $100 million financing package on October 29, split between a $40 million Series B and $60 million from General Catalyst's Customer Value Fund, a non-equity vehicle that pays for customer acquisition and is repaid from the revenue those customers bring in. The Series B was led by General Catalyst, QED Investors and Gradient Ventures, with Intuit Ventures among the participants, per Axios.

The company builds an AI back office for solo business owners: it sets up the company, keeps the books, sends invoices, runs payroll, and prepares and files taxes. Co-founder and CEO Hooman Radfar told PYMNTS that monthly bookkeeping capacity rose from 40 closes to 300 by summer, with a target of 600. A traditional bookkeeper, he said, handles about 40.

"Traditional accounting firms scale by adding people. Collective scales with intelligence," Radfar said. The company reports 127% year-over-year growth and claims members have saved a combined $350 million in taxes since launch, while AI answers half of all support requests without a human.

General Catalyst's Pranav Singhvi framed the CVF side plainly: "With CVF, we look for companies with high-quality unit economics and a large market opportunity... Collective has built a one-stop shop for their financial needs." The structure is what stands out. Revenue-based nondilutive capital, repaid from the cohort it funded, is becoming a familiar instrument for AI vendors with recurring workflow revenue, and it fits a run of funding activity we're tracking across the stack this month.
