DeepSeek Opens ~150 Senior Backend Roles as Systems Strain

DeepSeek is opening roughly 150 senior backend and server-engineer positions in a single recruitment push, according to SCMP.

The openings were disclosed Monday evening in a social-media post by Cui Tianyi, a former quantitative trading expert who joined DeepSeek in March to lead its Harness team. The listings target engineers with two to ten years of experience, based primarily in Beijing with some in Hangzhou.

Cui framed the current backend as running out of runway. "In computing, once anything scales up in quantity, it leads to a massive increase in complexity," he wrote, pointing to rising data volumes, machine numbers, training workloads and active users, and saying the systems need to be extensively upgraded, maintained and rewritten to keep up. He described the scale of the push as "unprecedented for the company."

The number is notable against DeepSeek's own recent baseline. In June the company said it would "at least double the size of every department," listing 33 open roles across research, engineering and product management. This single push is roughly five times that. Unite.AI reports the openings span six specialized tracks and that the company is willing to consider recent graduates in exceptional cases.
