Discord Rolls Out ML-Driven Age Verification Globally, Says 90% of Users Won't See a Check

Discord began worldwide rollout Wednesday of an age-assurance system that uses a machine-learning model to bucket users as Teen, Adult, or Unconfirmed based on account tenure, device signals and activity patterns — explicitly not message content. Discord's CTO says more than 90% of users won't need an additional verification step; adults not confidently classified can appeal via a credit-card check, Apple/Google Play age share, or an ID/selfie scan.
