Artificial intelligence did the heavy lifting. "AI drove 75% of European funding this past quarter," the Crunchbase report says, calling the $18.8 billion AI total "the highest proportion on record."
Two deals set the tone. Paris-based Mistral raised $3.5 billion, which Crunchbase describes as "the largest venture round ever for a Europe-based company"; the company has drawn twelve prior stories on our tracker in the last ninety days. Data center provider Nscale raised a $3.36 billion convertible note that "it says it will convert once it goes public." Defense technology also arrived at scale, with Helsing closing a $1.8 billion Series E and Quantum Systems a $1.2 billion round.
The UK led the region at $7.5 billion. Germany and France gained share with $5 billion and $4.8 billion respectively, each marking the strongest quarter since 2021-2022. Late-stage capital accounted for $17.3 billion across 83 companies, roughly 70% of the quarter's total.
