Ex-Silverfin CEO's Ravical Raises $17M Seed Led by MMC Ventures

Funding Enterprise AI ai-business

TL;DR

  • Ravical raised a $17M seed led by MMC Ventures with Lakestar, Pitchdrive and new investor Shapers, lifting total funding to $25M.
  • CEO Joris Van Der Gucht previously co-founded Silverfin, the cloud accounting platform sold for €320 million in 2023.
  • The 2025-founded company already counts more than 100 European accounting firms as customers and will use the capital to enter the UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany and the US.

Belgian-British startup Ravical has raised $17 million in a seed round led by MMC Ventures, with existing investors Lakestar and Pitchdrive joined by newcomer Shapers, tech.eu reported. The round brings total funding to $25 million for a company founded in 2025.

CEO Joris Van Der Gucht previously co-founded Silverfin, a cloud accounting software company sold for €320 million in 2023. He is joined by CTO Ken Bastiaensen and CPO Benjamin Vandermarliere on a platform that already serves more than 100 accounting firms across Europe.

The pitch is less about individual-user AI copilots and more about turning in-house expertise into firm-wide workflows. 'When every employee uses their own assistant in their own way, the individual gets better, but the firm doesn't,' Van Der Gucht said. 'We turn how a firm's best people work into a shared way of working that AI carries out across every client.'

MMC Ventures' Mina Samaan framed the thesis bluntly. 'Accounting hasn't had its Harvey or Legora moment yet,' he said, pointing to the breakout legal-AI vendors as the comparison.

The new capital funds expansion across the UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany and into the US.
