Google Cloud, Accenture Set Up Unit to Embed 1,000 Gemini FDEs
TL;DR
- Accenture launched the Accenture Gemini Enterprise Business Group, a new unit dedicated to deploying Google's Gemini platform inside customer organizations.
- Google Cloud will train up to 1,000 Accenture forward-deployed engineers who work on-site with customers to build production Gemini applications.
- The unit builds on Accenture's nearly 50,000 Google Cloud-skilled professionals and sits under the existing Accenture Google Business Group.
Accenture is standing up a new business unit dedicated to Google's Gemini Enterprise platform, and Google Cloud will train up to 1,000 Accenture "forward-deployed engineers" who will sit on-site inside customer organizations to build AI applications there. PYMNTS reported the arrangement, citing a Wall Street Journal interview with the two CEOs.
The unit is called the Accenture Gemini Enterprise Business Group. It builds on Accenture's nearly 50,000 Google Cloud-skilled professionals and makes Gemini the reference platform for the new FDE work.
Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian framed the shortage of on-the-ground expertise as the binding constraint. "There's a need for experts who can go and do these [things] for customers," he told the Journal.
Accenture chair and CEO Julie Sweet described the state clients are in more bluntly. "Clients want clear value and they're stuck... We promised AI can do that. And they're like, 'We get it, except it's not happening, help us make it happen.'"
Per the announcement, the FDEs' job is to convert Gemini models into production systems companies can wire into their data pipelines and daily operations, the piece where most enterprise pilots stall. Sweet said customers now want "growth, investment capacity and real impact on their bottom line."
The move lands in a market our tracker has flagged this week: enterprise buyers hit "model fatigue" after Anthropic, OpenAI, Meta and Google all shipped in one week. It's one of 267 enterprise AI stories we've logged in the last 90 days.
