Huang Floats $2,000-Per-GPU Yearly Fee for Nvidia Agent Software
TL;DR
- Jensen Huang said at GTC Berlin on October 22 that running Nvidia's agent software on AI factories costs about $2,000 per GPU per year.
- Nvidia's existing AI Enterprise platform already lists at $4,500 per GPU for a one-year subscription and $18,000 per GPU for five years.
- Huang offered the figure as an example, with no confirmed product scope, effective date, or relationship to existing AI Enterprise contracts.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang put a number on what the company wants to charge for the software layer that runs AI agents: about $2,000 per GPU per year. He said it at GTC Berlin on October 22, in a Q&A about where Nvidia's business is heading, Tom's Hardware reported.
"Software licensing will become increasingly a major part of our company's business," Huang said. "The way that we license will be…for example, it's about $2,000 per GPU per year to run all the software that Nvidia provides that runs agents on these AI factories."
The figure landed without a product sheet behind it. Nvidia hasn't said which programs the $2,000 covers, when it would apply, or how it would relate to the AI Enterprise suite the company already sells per GPU. That existing suite lists at $4,500 for a one-year subscription and $18,000 for five years, more than double the number Huang floated, which is why Tom's Hardware flagged the overlap as unresolved.
The scale math is the reason the comment travelled. At $2,000 per GPU across five million GPUs, Nvidia would be looking at $10 billion a year in software revenue, or $50 billion over five years if customers kept renewing. Huang framed the licensing push as a structural shift in how Nvidia makes money, not a one-off SKU. It arrives as our agents tracker logs its 528th story in 90 days, with the economics of running those agents increasingly a procurement question rather than a research one.
For now, treat the number as an example Huang said out loud, not a price Nvidia has published. The company has not confirmed whether the $2,000 and the $4,500 cover the same products, a narrower agent-focused bundle, or something that has not shipped yet.
