Imperial College's 'Superhuman' ECG AI Flags Heart Failure and Valve Disease in Under 2 Seconds

An Imperial College London team led by Prof Fu Siong Ng and Dr Ahmed El-Medany unveiled a British Heart Foundation-funded ECG model at the European Society of Cardiology congress in Munich that flags heart failure and valve disease from a routine ECG in under two seconds. In a 67,000-patient US trial it caught up to 81% of heart failure and 90% of valve disease cases. Researchers next want handheld AI-led ECG readers for clinicians.
