Insurance Adjusters Pan AI in 98% of Glassdoor Reviews

Ninety-eight percent of Glassdoor reviews from claims adjusters that mentioned AI were negative, the highest rate of any occupation Glassdoor examined in an analysis covering June 2025 through May 2026. Wired reports that adjusters describe systems that misclassify claims, generate hallucinated summaries, and add work when staff have to correct the output. Three experts in our Who's Who directory shared this piece.

"AI is just a tool," one adjuster tells Wired. "It should never be given the keys."

Sandy Avina, a former claims adjuster and insurance consultant, told the magazine that a smudge on a document from an attorney can lead to a hallucination, and that an AI-generated summary leaving out an important detail from a medical report can result in an inaccurate payout. Geoffrey Conrad, a claims executive in Mobile, Alabama, described "AI fatigue": "We're pretty much exhausted as far as the amount of AI being shoved down our throats."

The reviews are landing in a shrinking market, not a booming one. TechSpot notes that employment in the sector dropped 21% between May 2025 and May 2026 per BLS data, with entry-level adjuster postings falling close to half.
