Leading the Future PAC funnels millions to Nevada shell firms
TL;DR
- Super PACs in the Leading the Future network paid tens of millions to four Nevada companies whose listed addresses are mail drops and a Staples store.
- Think Big sent about $20 million to Lantern Production Consultants; American Mission paid roughly $13 million to Summit Ridge Media Group.
- Campaign Legal Center filed an FEC complaint in May, but the commission has lacked the four-member quorum needed to decide complaints since May 2025.
Leading the Future, the super PAC network pushing AI-friendly policy into the 2026 midterms, has routed tens of millions of dollars through four Nevada companies whose listed addresses are a post office box, a mail center and a Staples store, Wired reported.
The network has raised more than $140 million from backers including Marc Andreessen, Ben Horowitz and OpenAI President Greg Brockman. Two affiliated super PACs account for most of the opaque spending. Think Big has paid about $20 million to Lantern Production Consultants since 2025, listed at a Sparks P.O. box. American Mission has paid roughly $13 million to Summit Ridge Media Group between December 2025 and September 2026, listed at a Reno mail center. Both LLCs were formed on the same day, October 30, 2025.
The Campaign Legal Center filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission in May alleging that the Nevada companies "may be standing in for the consultants, strategists, and production vendors who actually received the funds," which federal law requires PACs to disclose. The commission cannot act on it: the FEC has lacked the four members needed to decide complaints since May 2025.
Leading the Future spokesperson Jesse Hunt told Wired the organization complies with all applicable laws and called the filing "merely a desperate ploy for attention from Public First, Anthropic, and the groups aligned with their outside organizations."
