Mach9 Raises $34M Series A After Pivot From Robotics to AI CAD
TL;DR
- Mach9 closed a $34M Series A co-led by First Round Capital and Bessemer Venture Partners, with Prudence and existing investor Quiet Capital participating.
- The company, founded in 2021 as Mach9 Robotics, dropped 'Robotics' from its name after co-founder Alex Baikovitz concluded hardware wasn't the bottleneck.
- Nearly 100 private-beta customers have used the AI CAD software on more than 2,500 projects, with claims of 10x speed and one-fifth the cost of legacy workflows.
Mach9 raised $34 million in a Series A co-led by First Round Capital and Bessemer Venture Partners, with Prudence, a New York firm focused on AI software for construction and real estate, and existing investor Quiet Capital participating. The company funded by this round no longer builds the thing its original name promised.
Alex Baikovitz co-founded the business as Mach9 Robotics in 2021 to build a better, faster, cheaper way for civil engineers to do visual inspections. After a few years, the hardware existed and Baikovitz concluded it wasn't the bottleneck. "The real pain was in their workflows," he said. The 'Robotics' came off the name, and the product became AI-powered CAD software that turns survey imagery and laser scans into initial design drafts.
The pitch is speed and cost. Mach9 says the software produces engineering-ready drawings up to 10 times faster and at one-fifth the cost of conventional workflows, with centimeter-level accuracy from in-house AI models. "It takes months to be able to deliver a project, and about a week per mile for someone to do manually in the legacy incumbent software," Baikovitz said.
Nearly 100 customers are using it in private beta, across more than 2,500 projects to date. The round lands in a busy week on our funding tracker; competitor CivilGrid, which focuses on underground infrastructure mapping, raised $26 million in August 2026.
