Microsoft's Office and Teams Chief Roslansky to Exit End of 2026

TL;DR

  • Ryan Roslansky will leave Microsoft at the end of 2026 after nearly 18 years at LinkedIn and Microsoft, Satya Nadella told staff in a Thursday memo.
  • Office and Microsoft Teams now report to Charles Lamanna's Copilot, Agents and Platform organization, moving Microsoft's two biggest productivity surfaces under its AI-agent group.
  • Roslansky said leading the next phase would require being in Redmond full time while his family remains in the Bay Area; Dan Shapero continues as LinkedIn CEO.

Ryan Roslansky will leave Microsoft at the end of 2026, Satya Nadella told staff in a Thursday memo reported by CNBC. Roslansky ran LinkedIn for six years, took on the Office productivity group last year, and picked up Microsoft Teams earlier this year, the first time Teams, Office and LinkedIn were steered under a single leader.

Roslansky's own account of why he is leaving is unusually plain. "I know what it would take for me to lead the next phase of this work well: being in Redmond full time, every day," he wrote, but "my life and my family's life are here in the Bay Area." Nadella framed the handover tersely: "Ryan leaves the organization in a strong position."

Office and Microsoft Teams now report into Charles Lamanna's Copilot, Agents and Platform organization, which already covers Microsoft 365 and Dynamics 365 services along with BizChat. Lamanna has spent 13 years at Microsoft and was previously president of the business and industry Copilot division. Dan Shapero stays as LinkedIn CEO.

The exit lands in a run of senior turnover at Microsoft. Gaming head Phil Spencer and former Office leader Rajesh Jha both left this year, and security chief Charlie Bell moved to an individual-contributor role. It is also the second Copilot-shaped shift in a week on our radar, after we covered Microsoft's enterprise rewrite of Copilot on Sept. 26.
