Nvidia's Huang Tells CBS AI Doom by 2030 Is '0% Chance'

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang told CBS News there is "a 0% chance" that artificial intelligence ends the world by 2030, in an interview previewed by Bloomberg ahead of its full broadcast on CBS "Sunday Morning" on September 20.

Speaking with senior business and technology correspondent Jo Ling Kent, Huang rejected calls to slow AI development. "We should go as fast as we can irrespective of anybody else," he said, before adding a safety qualifier: "we would never ever, and never should, ship products before they're ready, deliver products that are unsafe." Asked directly about doomsday framings, he told Kent that "2030 is not going to be the end of the world."

The comments sharpen a public rift with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and other industry figures who have urged caution on frontier development. They also mark a hardening from Huang's own line only weeks earlier, when he said companies should pause or pace their work if they felt out of control.

It follows his Dreamforce appearance days earlier, where he told the crowd the AI industry doesn't need any new laws or regulations, and lands the same week reviewers told The Verge they got days, not weeks, for OpenAI safety audits.
