Off-Grid AI Power Startup TAR Raises $120M Series A at ~$1B, Anthropic Backer Spark Capital Leads

Austin-based TAR raised $120M in Series A funding at a roughly $1B valuation led by Spark Capital, an Anthropic backer, with participation from prior investors Buckley Ventures and Align Fund. TAR combines solar, wind, battery storage and natural gas backup to build off-grid AI data center power in about three months, sidestepping years-long grid interconnection queues. Co-founder Pat Becker said proceeds will go to engineering hires and expanded manufacturing.
