OpenAI Endorses Bipartisan FRONTIER Act That Would Embed Third-Party AI Safety Evaluators

OpenAI publicly backed a provision of the FRONTIER Act — a bipartisan House bill from Reps. Jay Obernolte (R-CA) and Lori Trahan (D-MA) — that would require large frontier developers to submit to independent third-party safety audits, publish transparency reports and disclose critical incidents. The bill would also authorize the government to pause deployment of models judged too risky.
