Cat Wu, who ran product for Anthropic's Claude Code, is joining OpenAI to lead product management for Core Products. Her last day at Anthropic was October 30, and the move was announced less than a week later, Business Insider reported.
"Some news: I'm joining OpenAI to lead product management for Core Products!" Wu wrote on X. "I have a lot of respect for OpenAI for showing the world that scaling works, for bringing AI to over a billion people, and for believing great products are core to the mission."
Wu joined Anthropic in August 2024 and became head of product for Claude Code and Cowork, growing the coding tool from a small internal project into one of the company's most visible lines. At OpenAI she will work with Thibault Sottiaux, whose Core Products remit includes ChatGPT, the API, and Codex.
She is the third Claude Code departure in roughly two weeks, after engineer Thariq Shihipar and desktop developer Anthony Morris. Her stated priority at the new job is reliable agents, a beat that has produced 527 tracked stories in our feed over the last 90 days, including OpenAI's purchase of Pierre Computer earlier this week.
The timing lands just before Anthropic's planned IPO.
