OpenAI Partners With Cathedral Systems on Security Sprint, Quadruples Bug Bounty With $172K Cap for Critical Finds

OpenAI announced a new internal security sprint in partnership with Cathedral Systems, whose researchers will use OpenAI's own models to probe its defenses. Alongside the sprint, OpenAI more than quadrupled the midpoint of its bug bounty ranges: critical vulnerabilities in core products like ChatGPT, Codex and the API Platform now pay up to $30,000, with exceptional findings qualifying for a $100,000 base award and bonuses bringing total payouts to roughly $172,000.
