The scope covers Qualcomm's Snapdragon Cockpit and Snapdragon Ride platforms, the Snapdragon Elite automotive platform, and dedicated AI accelerators.

The deal is less a new relationship than a hardening of one already on the road. BMW's iX3, the first vehicle in the Neue Klasse program, launched commercially in November 2025 with Snapdragon Ride Pilot underneath a "Symbiotic Drive" experience the two companies frame as integrating the driver into the automated driving system rather than sidelining them. Nakul Duggal, Qualcomm's EVP and Group GM for Automotive, Industrial and Embedded IoT and Robotics, said the selection reflects "the trust BMW Group has placed in our technology and roadmap."

Why this matters for the wider automotive AI silicon race: cockpit and ADAS design wins tend to be multi-year and sticky, because once an OEM has architected a software-defined vehicle around one vendor's system-on-chip, the switching cost is enormous. A premium reference customer through the next decade gives Qualcomm a durable European anchor for its Snapdragon Digital Chassis pitch, and it gives BMW a single architecture to standardize cockpit and ADAS across Neue Klasse programs.

What the reporting doesn't give you is any of the numbers a reader actually wants: no deal value, no per-vehicle silicon content, no volume commitment, no clarity on whether "lead" is exclusive or simply preferred, and no roadmap for which model programs beyond the iX3 are covered. Take the "decade" and the "lead" framing as announced, not as settled contract structure.

The forward-looking piece is what committed premium volume enables.
