Runway opens MCP server for ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Replit

Runway on May 27 opened a hosted MCP server that lets agents in ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and Replit call its image and video generation directly, the company said. Users add the server as a custom connector, sign in with an existing Runway account, and mention @Runway in the conversation; generations are billed against that plan, and 'No API key is required for ChatGPT integration; other agents require the Runway MCP URL added to agent settings.'

The exposed model list mixes Runway's own Gen-4.5 with Seedance, Kling 3.0, Veo 3.1, GPT Image 2 and Nano Banana Pro. 'You can generate polished images and videos without switching context – just ask your agent to use Runway,' the announcement reads, promising that 'generations come back in the same window.'

Corroborating coverage from GIGAZINE frames the release as making Runway usable inside ChatGPT and Claude chats through reference images and prompts, rather than routing users to Runway's own app.
