Runway Ships Free Adobe Premiere and After Effects Plugins

Runway has shipped free plugins that drop its video and image models directly into Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, dated September 8, 2026, and the workflow shift is the point: no more exporting frames to a browser and re-importing the results. The company's plugins page lists Gen-4.5, Seedance 2.5, Kling 3.0 Pro and Veo 3.1 on the video side, Gen-4 Image, Nano Banana and GPT Image 2 on the image side, with Aleph 2.0 doing video-to-video edits and Runway Ruby handling HDR conversion.

The installer is free on macOS and Windows; generation still burns credits from a paid Runway plan. Coverage of the release puts the shift plainly: "Users can now access AI models like Runway's Aleph 2 within their editing environment, allowing for seamless transformations of existing clips." Results land at the playhead. "HDR conversion, background removal, and one-click upscaling" are exposed as first-class panel actions.

The launch arrives the same day Adobe unveiled its own set of generative features for Premiere and After Effects, naming Runway, Google Veo and Adobe Firefly among its partners. It also cashes in a December 2025 pact in which Adobe CTO Ely Greenfield said "Runway's generative video innovation combined with Adobe's trusted pro workflows will help creators and brands expand their creative potential." The plugin is what that sentence looks like as software.
