Solink Raises $100M+ From Vertu, Goldman for AI Camera Vision

TL;DR

  • Solink raised more than $100 million led by Vertu Capital, with Goldman Sachs Growth Equity, Golub Growth and Comcast Ventures joining, pushing total funding past $198 million.
  • The platform now reads about 500,000 cameras at more than 35,000 retail, restaurant and warehouse locations in 65 countries using vision-language models.
  • About 90 per cent of the proceeds went to Solink; the rest cashed out early investors, and no valuation was disclosed.

Solink has raised more than $100 million in a round led by Toronto's Vertu Capital, with Goldman Sachs Growth Equity, Golub Growth and Comcast Ventures also writing checks, lifting the Ottawa-founded video-surveillance company's total funding past $198 million, SiliconAngle reports.

The pitch rides the base already installed. Solink's platform now sits behind about 500,000 cameras at more than 35,000 retail, restaurant and warehouse locations in 65 countries, pulling business-operations data out of footage that would otherwise sit untouched on a DVR. Its VerifEye command center picked up vision-language models in March to filter out false alarms before an operator ever sees them, and in February the company layered on AI agents for perimeter security and loss prevention that run on edge devices and do not require proprietary cameras.

"Nobody should need to watch footage to know what is happening inside a business," says co-founder and CEO Mike Matta, who called the present a "watershed moment" for physical businesses. Vertu partner Eric Kafka described AI vision intelligence as "one of the most significant opportunities in software today." Goldman managing director Mike Reilly, whose firm led Solink's $60 million Series C in July 2023, called returning to the cap table "a natural decision."

No valuation is disclosed. About 90 per cent of the proceeds went to Solink; the rest paid out early investors for their stakes. The deal lands inside a crowded flow of camera-vision deployments across our surveillance tracker, and a venture backdrop that produced hundreds of AI funding stories over the last three months.
