The Information reports DeepSeek and Huawei are co-shaping future Ascend AI chip designs, with DeepSeek planning to start using the Ascend 950DT for pre-training as soon as the end of 2026. The 950DT ships with Huawei's own HiZQ 2.0 HBM (144GB, 4 TB/s) in Q4 2026, and prior reporting pegs a 160,000-chip order for a 1GW Ulanqab site. The shift marks the first time a flagship Chinese model would train on domestic silicon rather than Nvidia.
