Lantern, established in 2023, lets member platforms trade signals of potentially violating behavior so bad actors moving between services can be identified. Members already include Google, X, Snap, Twitch, Anthropic, Meta, Discord, Microsoft, Apple, Roblox and Reddit. Through 2025, participants shared over 2 million such signals.
"Cross-platform collaboration is essential to identifying and disrupting child sexual exploitation," Lantern Director Marc Leone said.
TikTok's $2 million contribution sits inside a three-year, $10 million push to modernize NCMEC's CyberTipline, with AWS, Microsoft and Palantir also contributing resources. The stated goals are to deploy advanced search and automation tools and reduce manual processing time by half so reports reach law enforcement faster.
