'A forecast can only be as good as what was actually measured,' co-founder and chief strategy officer Rei Goffer said. The pitch is aimed at the world's atmospheric blind spots: 71% of Earth is covered by ocean with minimal ground-based weather radar, and the company says more than five billion people live outside radar coverage.
'A storm strengthening over open ocean is watched far less closely than one approaching a wealthy coastline,' CEO Shimon Elkabetz said. Tomorrow.io currently runs eleven Gen-1 microwave sounders in low Earth orbit feeding its Sky 1 atmospheric state model.
