WSJ Profiles OpenAI-Backed Red Queen Bio, an AI Biosecurity Startup With $36M Raised for Antibody Countermeasures

The Wall Street Journal profiled Red Queen Bio, an OpenAI-backed startup spun out of HelixNano that has raised $36M total to design antibody drugs against pathogens — including bioweapons that AI systems themselves could design. The company plans to map AI-enabled biothreats and pre-build medical countermeasures using frontier models, lab automation and reinforcement learning. Sam Altman and OpenAI board member Nicole Seligman will receive shares as part of the deal.
