Zenithon Nets $10M to Build World Models for Extreme Physics

Funding Generative AI ai-business

TL;DR

  • UK startup Zenithon has raised $10 million in seed funding from BACKED, Lunar, Seraphim, MMC and SOSV to build AI world models for extreme physics.
  • Zenithon claims its models can explore a million design points in the time a conventional simulator handles one, while learning from real experiments.
  • Advisers include Meta board director Charlie Songhurst, Commonwealth Fusion co-founder Dan Brunner and NYU's Zongyi Li; Zenithon plans quarterly model releases.

Zenithon, a UK AI startup, has raised $10 million in seed funding to build what it calls "world models for extreme physics", pointing them at fusion reactors, rockets and semiconductor manufacturing. Tech.eu reported the round was backed by BACKED, Lunar, Seraphim, MMC and SOSV, along with founders and hyperscaler directors.

The company's headline claim is that its models can "explore a million design points in the time it takes to simulate one, while also learning directly from real-world experiments." Its own framing of the challenge: "Building the next generation of these technologies requires engineers to understand and control increasingly complex physics."

The adviser bench reads bigger than the check. Co-founders Alex Higginbottom and Abetharan Antony have brought in Charlie Songhurst (Meta Board Director, former Microsoft Strategy Head), Dan Brunner (Commonwealth Fusion Systems co-founder and former MIT researcher) and Zongyi Li (NYU Assistant Professor). Zenithon plans to release new models quarterly and expand its team in San Francisco and across the US, joining a heavy quarter of AI funding activity on our tracker.
