Anthropic ships Claude Duet

What's trending in AI right now, from the app charts to the community feeds. Real links, our take.

Anthropic ships Claude Duet

Anthropic launched Claude Duet this week, a proactive AI agent aimed at professionals and small-business owners. The idea is that it runs in the background, stays connected to your apps, and can draft reports or build dashboards on its own schedule without waiting for you to prompt it. It runs on Claude Opus 5.5 and is in research preview for Pro and Max subscribers in the US, with a waitlist. Anthropic is competing directly with OpenAI's Dots and Meta's Muse here, so if you follow the AI agent race this is the new entrant to know about.

Grok Bot keeps climbing the charts

Grok Bot, the AI agent app from SpaceXAI, has been climbing steadily since its August launch. This week it added phone integrations: calendar events, reminders, contacts, and smart home controls are all available now, with per-app permission toggles so you decide what it can access. The app is up three spots in the productivity charts this week. For anyone curious what a consumer AI agent looks like in practice, this is probably the most discussed example right now.

Google gets back into the frontier conversation

Google released Gemini 4 Argon at the end of September, and it has been getting real attention this week as people compare it to the current crop of frontier models. According to Slash Digital's October model tracker, Argon topped the Arena text leaderboard at launch and sits alongside Claude Opus 5.5 in the upper pricing tier. For much of 2026 Google had been trailing on the headline benchmarks. The current sticking point is access: the model is restricted to testers in Google's Fairwind Program, with API access still listed as "coming soon." The benchmark discussion is lively, but real-world comparisons are limited until that changes.

AI short dramas are finding an audience

VibeShort climbed nine spots in the App Store entertainment rankings this week. It delivers AI-assisted short dramas in a vertical video format, with episodes running one to two minutes each, styled as comic-panel stories. The Google Play listing shows a 4.7-star rating from over 51,000 reviews. This mobile-first AI drama format has been gaining traction throughout 2026 across a few different apps, and VibeShort is showing the strongest chart movement in the category this week.

OpenAI trims its own fundraising target

OpenAI cut its fundraising valuation from $1.4 trillion down to $1.25 trillion after investor pushback, according to 24/7 Wall St. The company is raising up to $30 billion ahead of a likely 2027 IPO, and even at the lower figure it would be the most valuable private startup ever. The cut reflects real investor caution about the ongoing cost of building at the frontier. Separately, OpenAI is getting heat on r/ChatGPT, where a thread called "For the love of God ease up the adult content moderation" gathered a lot of engagement this week. That frustration ties directly to an adult mode feature the company has now delayed twice. OpenAI says it is still planned.
