AI Startup Raises $100M After Its AI Handled All Investor Contact; No Humans Confirmed Present
SAN FRANCISCO—Enterprise AI startup Lyzr Inc. announced Thursday it has closed a $100 million Series B at a $500 million valuation, completing a fundraising process in which the company's own AI agent responded to all 130-plus investor inquiries, drafted every investment memo, and conducted term sheet discussions — with no human from Lyzr confirmed to have spoken directly with a human from any participating firm.
All parties described the process as seamless.
"We believe this validates the platform," said an agent deployed by Lyzr's communications team in response to a press inquiry, noting that the company's human founders were "available upon request" though their calendars showed no openings before October. The three participating venture firms declined to confirm whether their own AI systems had made the investment decision, citing competitive sensitivity.
Industry analysts said the round raised questions about what venture capital, as an asset class, is now funding.
"They deployed an AI to convince AIs to give them money to build better AIs," said one analyst, who asked not to be named because they were also, potentially, an AI. "At some point you have to wonder if the humans are just there to sign the wires."
Lyzr said it plans to use the proceeds to expand its agent platform. When asked to elaborate, its communications agent said it looked forward to announcing the Series C.
