HSBC Signs Multi-Year Google Cloud Deal to Deploy Gemini Across 200+ AI Use Cases, Targeting $100M+ Impact Per Initiative

HSBC announced a multi-year partnership with Google Cloud at the Google Cloud Summit London 2026 to deploy Gemini models across more than 200 AI use cases spanning wealth management, financial crime detection, and internal decision support, with individual initiatives projected to contribute $100 million or more in revenue gains or efficiency savings each. The bank's 20,000+ developers are already using AI coding assistants with 15% efficiency gains, and the new financial crime risk tools are designed to intervene twice as fast when threats are identified. HSBC's first-ever Chief AI Officer, David Rice, will oversee the rollout, which uses Google DeepMind engineering teams and the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform — the largest such commitment by a global bank announced to date.
