Bell AI Fabric, Cohere, Hypertec, and BUZZ HPC Sign Landmark Deal to Deliver Sovereign AI in Canada Using Domestic Hardware

Bell AI Fabric, Cohere, Hypertec, and BUZZ HPC announced a deal on June 18 to build Canadian sovereign AI infrastructure: Bell provides data centre capacity at its Merritt, B.C. facility, Hypertec supplies Canadian-manufactured NVIDIA-accelerated hardware via BUZZ HPC's AI-native cloud layer, and Cohere operates its enterprise foundation models on top to serve government and business customers requiring domestic data residency. Canada's Minister of AI Evan Solomon called the deal essential to keeping AI intellectual property and economic value onshore. The partnership positions Cohere — one of the few frontier AI companies unaffected by US export controls — as the sovereign-ready enterprise alternative as the Anthropic Fable 5 ban continues to disrupt government customers globally.
