OECD and European Commission Jointly Launch Finalized AI Literacy Framework for K-12 Schools, Basis for 2029 PISA Assessment

The OECD and European Commission jointly launched the finalized AI Literacy Framework for primary and secondary education at the European Digital Education Hub flagship event, drawing on input from over 2,000 stakeholders across 100 countries. The framework organizes competencies across four domains — Engage, Create, Manage, and Shape AI — with ethics embedded throughout rather than treated as a standalone module, and includes classroom-ready materials for teachers including offline and low-tech options. It will serve as the basis for the first-ever PISA 2029 assessment of AI literacy across OECD member countries, making it the global benchmark for measuring student AI competence.
