Netherlands Lobbies Washington to Drop Chip Equipment Controls That Would Block ASML's Immersion DUV Sales to China

The Dutch government is actively lobbying Washington not to expand chip equipment export controls to cover immersion DUV lithography machines — the tier below EUV — which would prevent ASML from selling to Chinese customers, Bloomberg reported June 24. The effort is distinct from the Netherlands recently joining the US-led Pax Silica supply-chain coalition and reflects a direct economic calculation: ASML's immersion DUV business in China represents a substantial share of its revenue. The US has so far restricted only EUV tools; widening controls to DUV would significantly curtail ASML's earnings and amounts to a formal diplomatic pushback from The Hague.
