DOJ Extracts $3.2M Settlement From OpenAI Over H-1B Visa Preference in Job Ads

The Justice Department's Civil Rights Division said OpenAI OpCo LLC agreed to pay a combined $3.2 million to settle allegations that it violated the Immigration and Nationality Act by preferring workers with temporary employment visas over US workers, per Bloomberg. It is the ninth settlement announced since DOJ relaunched the Protecting U.S. Workers Initiative in 2025.
