A Fortune 500 software firm commissioned in April to audit its $14.2 million annual AI budget submitted the completed 47-page review to its CFO on Tuesday, recommending the company immediately migrate most internal AI workflows to DeepSeek V4, which the document describes as offering "equivalent performance at approximately 12% of current annual spend."

The audit had originally been assigned to the company's existing Claude Enterprise deployment — the primary line item driving the review. After senior engineering staff raised concerns about using Claude to evaluate its own contract, the company switched to DeepSeek V4 at what the CFO described at a Thursday all-hands as "a per-token rate that made me feel stupid."
The 47-page report identifies nineteen internal workflows currently running on frontier U.S. models that it recommends migrating to DeepSeek V4, including legal document review, earnings call preparation, and quarterly strategic planning. The board approved the migration plan at its July meeting.
