Apple’s smart-glasses dilemma: useful or trusted?

Apple is targeting WWDC 2027, but the camera that makes glasses useful for visual AI is also what makes them creepy. It has reportedly tested no-camera glasses and cameras that cannot record, though the likeliest product still uses cameras with new privacy protections.

The dilemma is already real: a UK Comic-Con promoter banned Meta glasses after complaints about covert filming. Apple is not only designing hardware; it is trying to rescue the category’s social license.

Five more moves

Price is beating geopolitics: Coinbase says Kimi and Z.ai roughly halved some AI costs, while DoorDash is routing lower-level work to Kimi.
Experts judged some answers deadly accurate. OpenAI banned the accounts, but US law did not require it to report them to law enforcement.
The guarantee would help OpenAI lease a 10-gigawatt, SoftBank-backed project expected to cost more than $500B.
CXMT briefly became mainland China’s most valuable listed company. Its first-quarter revenue rose more than 700% as AI drove memory demand.
