Alibaba began selling its Qwen Glasses N1 in China on Tuesday at 2,999 yuan ($450), with a Pro model at 3,499 yuan that adds eye tracking, iris scanning for payments, and sensors for heart rate, blood oxygen and skin temperature. The Next Web reported the launch from an event in Hangzhou, with the glasses going on sale through Taobao, Tmall, JD.com and Douyin. State subsidies and launch offers can bring the price as low as 2,218 yuan.
Both models run Alibaba's Qwen assistant via bone-conduction microphones. The standard N1 carries a 50-megapixel camera and is pitched for translation, meeting notes, shopping and payment prompts, with a battery rated at 25 hours of standby or nine hours of music playback. The battery is swappable.
Song Gang, a vice president in Alibaba's Qwen business, described the glasses at the launch as "a second pair of eyes and ears for users."
Alibaba also unveiled a set of AI earbuds, Qwen Clip, co-developed with Bose and priced at 1,299 yuan, again leaning on translation and note-taking. It is the latest entry in a run of Alibaba hardware and model news tracked on our Alibaba page, which has logged 78 stories about the company over the last 90 days.
