Apple opens Siri AI dev preview to all apps; EU still blocked
TL;DR
- Apple's Siri AI developer preview is live today (Nov 3, 2026) in iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, macOS 27.3, watchOS 27.3, and visionOS 27.3 betas.
- App Intents is the integration path; Apple is adding 'skills' to chain multi-step actions and letting Siri surface any entity from the Spotlight semantic index.
- Siri AI is unavailable in the EU on iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS, and Apple says expanded server-side access 'will be available for a fee in the future.'
Apple's developer blog said on November 3 that a Siri AI developer preview is now live across iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, macOS 27.3, watchOS 27.3, and visionOS 27.3 betas, with App Store submissions opening in the spring and first shipping to customers 'in a few months.'
The mechanism is App Intents. Apple writes that the preview 'allows any app to bring its content and actions directly into Siri AI by using App Intents, making it easier for all apps to tap into Siri AI's newest capabilities, including personal context understanding, onscreen awareness, natural language, and more.' For multi-step requests, the company is 'introducing skills to let you teach Siri AI how to combine several actions into a single experience.' Siri AI can also 'surface any entity in the Spotlight semantic index, not just the ones that fit an existing schema.' Apple is updating its own apps around this, including Calendar, Files, Finder, Journal, Mail, Maps, Messages, Music, Notes, Photos, Preview, Reminders, Safari, Shortcuts, and Weather.
Two Key Details lines carry most of the business weight. First: 'Siri AI is currently unavailable in the EU' on iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS, with Apple saying it is 'working constructively with the EU in an attempt to find a path forward.' Second: server-side Apple Intelligence features 'including but not limited to Siri AI' are subject to daily usage limits, and 'Expanded access to such features will be available for a fee in the future.' The post does not name a price or a date.
Launch languages are English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, with Traditional Chinese, Norwegian, Turkish, and Vietnamese slated to follow. Siri AI is not available for users under 13. Apple is running Apple Intelligence Group Labs on November 4 and 5 for developer questions. The post is the third Apple item on our tracker this week, after Monday's record Q4 revenue print and The Information's tabletop-robot scoop.
