Axon Draft One AI wrote Texas sheriff's Flock abortion report

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office report on searching more than 80,000 Flock cameras nationwide for a woman who self-administered an abortion carries a disclosure that the report itself was written by AI. "I acknowledge this report was generated using Draft One by Axon," the document states, per 404 Media.

Draft One is Axon's report-writing product. Keven George of the sheriff's office described the workflow: "Draft One works by uploading and transcribing body-camera audio once an incident concludes. Within about five minutes, a preliminary narrative based on that transcript is generated." The AI-summarized narrative in this case recorded deputies discussing "the legal implications of the situation, noting that while the girlfriend self-administered the abortion pill, there were no criminal charges applicable under current Texas law."

404 Media initially reported the Flock search in May 2025. Flock CEO Garrett Langley defended the query at the time by saying "she was in an abusive relationship and the family was concerned that she was in danger," and PR manager Paris Lewbel emphasized that "the case report from Johnson County details that authorities explicitly stated she could NOT be charged with a crime." The follow-up narrows the picture: that "legal implications" passage sits inside a document a machine drafted from body-camera audio.
