DeepSeek said its open-source agent app Harness reached 1.54 million daily active users on November 4, less than three months after the August 13 debut, Bloomberg reported. Counting against its own API, the company pegged daily token consumption at roughly 92 trillion.
The curve is steep. DeepSeek's own figures put the 7-day average at 271,000 users on September 30 and 429,000 on October 7, for "an increase of more than 1 million in one month" by November 4. About 35,000 third-party plugins now ride on the agent, and the company said roughly 60% of active users have created or installed at least one.
DeepSeek is also preparing an official plugin marketplace and an author-support program, and has already started distributing tokens to plugin developers. That effectively funds the ecosystem before the storefront opens. No launch date was given. Bloomberg framed the disclosure as DeepSeek continuing to "challenge Anthropic PBC and OpenAI with an entire swath of applications built around open-source AI technologies."
The measurement is self-reported and runs only against DeepSeek's hosted API; nobody else is auditing the token count or the user count. Even so, the numbers land during a visible run of Chinese-origin open-source releases we have been tracking in our China AI feed, and arrive while Anthropic and OpenAI keep Claude Code and ChatGPT's agent surface closed.
