Google is retiring the NotebookLM name. It does not name the model powering the code execution, spell out data-handling limits for Workspace customers, or explain how sync behaves when the Gemini app and standalone notebook are edited in parallel. What it does give you is scale: Google says more than 30 million individuals and more than 600,000 organizations already use the product, which is what turns a rename into a distribution event and puts real competitive pressure on other research-notebook and lightweight-analysis tools.
