Google Workspace MCP v2 Ships 120+ Tools, OAuth 2.1 Multi-User

TL;DR

  • Taylor Wilsdon's open-source Google Workspace MCP server reached v2.1.0 on October 9, 2026, exposing more than 120 tools across twelve Google products.
  • The v2 line bundles OAuth 2.1 multi-user auth, three progressive tool tiers (core, extended, complete), a workspace-cli, and stateless container deployment.
  • A FastMCP 4 migration in v2.0.0 enables stateless HTTP replicas; v2.1.0 adds Gmail message-forwarding drafts and an optional GCS file backend.

Taylor Wilsdon's community-run Google Workspace MCP server reached v2.1.0 on October 9, 2026, pulling more than 120 tools across twelve Google products (Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Tasks, Contacts, Chat, Custom Search and Apps Script) behind one MCP endpoint.

The README's description of the v2 line is terse: "OAuth 2.1 multi-user auth, three progressive tool tiers, read-only mode, a full CLI, and stateless container deployment." The tiers are plainly spelled out: "core is the essential set, extended adds management operations, complete loads everything." A companion binary, workspace-cli, "lists and calls tools against a running server with encrypted, disk-backed OAuth token caching - authenticate once, script forever."

The release cadence has been fast. v2.0.0 landed October 3 with a migration to FastMCP 4 and the MCP Python SDK v2, adding stateless HTTP so "no sticky sessions" are required. v2.0.1 followed on October 4. v2.1.0 shipped October 9 with Gmail drafts that forward existing messages, an optional Google Cloud Storage backend for stateless deployments, and a restored 60-second Google API timeout that v2.0 had reduced to 30 seconds.

The repo now carries more than 3,300 stars, over 1,000 forks and 125 open pull requests, and it is one of 204 Google-related alerts in our last 90 days of coverage.
