Imp v0.5 Lands on Hex as a Full DSPy Port to the BEAM

Imp, a self-described 'full port of DSPy to the BEAM', landed on Hex as version 0.5, its first release on the Elixir package registry.

Published by deepfates under MIT, the library brings DSPy's declarative language-model-programming pattern onto Erlang/OTP. 'You describe what each language-model step takes and returns, choose how it thinks, and let an optimizer improve it against examples of what good looks like,' the README explains. Prompts and parsers are meant to disappear: 'You never write a prompt or a parser. Imp builds the prompt from the signature, checks the reply against it, and gives you typed fields.'

Agents get the same OTP treatment. 'On the BEAM, an agent is a process: it keeps its own state, receives messages, and runs under a supervisor alongside the rest of your application.' Optimization runs through GEPA, which 'runs the program, reads where it failed, and rewrites its instructions.'

The version number is a warning. The docs concede the API 'may still change, and its optimizers need large-scale benchmarking.' Imp needs Elixir 1.19 or later and works with any provider ReqLLM supports. It joins our steady run of open-source releases tracked over the last three months.
